Stephanie Leach was born in Mobile, Alabama. She received her BFA in Studio Art, with a concentration in ceramics, from the University of South Carolina, Columbia in 2001. Leach was a special student at USC from 2001-2003. In 2004 she moved to Rochester, New York to pursue masters degree studies. During her time at RIT Stephanie worked as a graduate assistant and an instructor in the ceramics department. Leach finished MFA course work in ceramics in May 2006 and completed her written thesis in March 2007. Following completion of her masters course work Leach was a summer studio assistant at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. In the fall of 2006 Stephanie moved to Lincoln, Nebraska for a residency at Lux Center for the Arts. She became the Gallery Assistant, and taught community adult and children’s classes. During her tenure as an Artist-in-Residence, Stephanie taught as an adjunct instructor for Doane College, Lincoln. In early 2007 Leach took over the position of Education and Exhibitions Director for the Lux Center, and in 2008 Stephanie focused her energies full time as Exhibitions Director for the center. Leach currently lives in Lincoln, Nebraska and in her spare time continues to explore social commentary and popular culture through her sculptural works that she exhibits throughout the United States.
